General information
Betnovate gel 0.1% contains active ingredient Betamethasone topical which is corticosteroid used to relieve itching, redness, swelling of skin because it has anti-inflammation and anti-allergic effect. The drug is used to alleviate symptoms of some forms of psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, neurodermatitis, contact hypersensitivity reactions , discoid lupus erythematosus.
Directions
Apply small quantity of the medication on the affected site 2-3 times a day till your condition improves. A change to supporting dosage can follow: usage of the medicine once daily. Action of the medicine can be strengthened by wrapping the treated surface with a polyethylene film.
Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have problems with liver and/or kidneys, acne, infections, if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Do not use this medicine if you are hypersensitive to its components, have rosacea, acne, perioral dermatitis, primal viral, fungal or bacterial skin infections. This medicine cannot be used in children under one year of age.
Possible side effect
You should seek for medical attention immediately if you experience symptoms of allergy at the application site like burning, stinging and itching. More rare symptoms are hair loss or thinning skin and hair, excessive hair growth, grouping of fine blood vessels.
Drug Interactions
Inform your doctor about all prescribed and over the counter medications you take and especially about itraconazole, ritonavir, cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibitors.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Inform your doctor if you consider that you took too much of this medication.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Store it in a tight container.
